Additional park and ride services will be operating on Sundays in December so shoppers can access Leicester city centre in the run up to Christmas.

Leicester City Council said the three services based at Enderby, Meynell’s Gorse and Birstall, would be running a special service on the first four Sundays in December.

These will operate between 10:00 and 17:30 GMT every 15 minutes, and there will be no park and ride service on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, 29 December and New Year's Day.

Regular park and ride services operate between Monday and Saturday from 07:00 to 19:00, every quarter of an hour.

An Adult Day ticket costs £3.50, with a Park and Ride Group Ticket (up to five people arriving in the same car) costing £4.

Concessionary fares allow travel for £1, with children under five and NHS pass holders travelling for free.

A family flexi ticket allows up to two adults and three children to travel all day for £11 during term time or £8 during the school holidays.

Passengers can tap on and tap off with their bank card without needing to buy a ticket up front.

The city council added that passengers can travel for free on the Hop! shuttle service which runs from 08:00 to 18:00 Monday to Saturday.
