Two people have been arrested after a woman in her 20s died in a hit-and-run crash in Wolverhampton.

The woman was hit by a blue Audi Q2 on Birmingham Road, near Johnson Street, shortly after 22:00 BST on Saturday and was confirmed dead at the scene, West Midlands Police said.

After issuing an appeal for information, police have since arrested a 24-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. They remain in police custody.

A spokesperson for the force said a vehicle thought to have been involved in the crash had been recovered as part of the investigation.
