A train narrowly missed hitting a heavy goods vehicle on a level crossing in Shropshire, investigators have said.

The Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) said it happened in Craven Arms at about 10:00 BST on 22 July and involved a manually controlled barrier.

It said the engineering train was signalled across it and while the barriers were in the raised position, the train almost hit the lorry.

A report is due to be published into the incident in the coming months, with a preliminary examination completed.

Nobody was injured in the incident, and no damage was caused, said the RAIB.
