A maternity support worker from Boston has received an award for her “kind hearted” and “committed” work.

Carol Goddard, who works at the Pilgrim Hospital in Boston received her award at the start of her shift on Monday.

Carol’s manager said she “goes above and beyond expectations every single day”.

A maternity support worker helps women and their families in hospital before and after birth.

Carol’s manager Robyn Dalton nominated her for the Chief Midwifery Officer Awards Programme. She said that Carol regularly receives compliments about her care from her patients because "she gives uninterrupted time, knowledge and patience throughout”.

The awards recognise the commitment and contribution of maternity support workers who consistently demonstrate the NHS values in their everyday roles.

Carol was thankful for the award, but said: “The whole team deserve it for working so hard.”
