A Surrey road sign which was gaining attention because of a misspelt town name has been corrected.

The sign in Portsmouth Road, Milford, spelt Godalming as "Goldalming".

Residents started noticing the error on Wednesday and the correction was spotted on Friday, as the misplaced "l" was covered up.

Surrey County Council has been contacted for a comment.

The council previously said its contractor confirmed this was a mistake made by the sign manufacturer and it would be rectified at no additional cost.
