Committee to review States of Jersey spending

The committee will present the report to the States Assembly and the public next year

A committee that oversees States spending is to review how the government buys its services and supplies.

The Public Accounts Committee will look at whether the way the government employs consultants is value for money.

Plans are in place to also get feedback from a variety of organisations to see how the process can be improved.

The committee will present the report with findings and recommendations on the government's procurement processes to the States Assembly and the public next year.

Deputy Inna Gardiner, chair of the committee, said: "We are eager to begin our important work assessing the Government of Jersey's procurement processes.

"By gathering feedback from suppliers, businesses, and unions, and reviewing procurement strategies and policies, we aim to ensure value for money, effective governance and that the processes are in line within organisational values."
