People are being asked to provide feedback on diabetes care in Cornwall

People in Cornwall who have experience with diabetes have been asked to offer feedback and ideas on how care should be provided by the NHS.

A new diabetes clinical reference group has been set up to look at how care is given to people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Those with diabetes or experience with it have been asked to register their interest to join a reference group by completing an online form.

Dr Chris Reid, chief medical officer for NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board said the aim is to "support people to manage their diabetes more effectively".

He added: “We know that people with diabetes are experts in their condition and we want to hear their feedback about how we can improve our services."

The form needs to be completed by 31 May, NHS bosses said.

The reference group will include online and in-person feedback, as well as taking part in surveys, giving feedback in a group discussion and being involved in work to design future services with staff and clinicians.

Amanda Veall, clinical reference group lead, said: “No matter what type of diabetes you have or whether you can only support us online or in person we want to hear from you.

"We’re also interested in people who have a family history of diabetes or who want to understand more about diabetes services.”
