A teenage boy has been killed in a car crash in Devon, police said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were called to the A3072 at Blakea Bridge near Beaworthy at about 16:05 BST on Sunday after a blue Ford Fiesta crashed.

The force said a 17-year-old boy who was driving the car died at the scene and an appeal for information has been issued.

It is the third death on Devon's roads during the bank holiday weekend.

A pedestrian died on the A38 at Chudleigh Knighton on Saturday, while a woman in her 60s died in a two-vehicle collision on the A361 near Tiverton on Sunday.

Police said a man in his 60s was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following the A361 crash. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Officers investigating the fatal crash on the A3072 have asked for anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact them.
