Op Brock to return with overnight road closure

An overnight motorway closure will be put in place on Tuesday to prepare a traffic-holding system for lorries heading across the English Channel.

Operation Brock is brought in on the M20 for lorries heading to Dover, where one side of the carriageway is used for the queue and the other for a contraflow.

It will be put in place ahead of the Easter holiday due to expected high passenger numbers through Kent.

Operation Brock covers a 13-mile stretch of the motorway between junctions eight (Maidstone) and nine (Ashford).

National Highways is warning drivers that part of the M20 will be closed overnight on Tuesday to put the contraflow in place.

The London-bound closure will be from junctions nine to eight and coastbound from junctions seven to nine overnight from 20:00 until 6:00 GMT on Wednesday.

A spokesperson said: "Fully signed diversion routes will be in place while the M20 is closed overnight. 

"These times have been chosen to minimise disruption to road users."

Those travelling by Eurotunnel and via the Port of Dover are advised to plan their journeys, allow more time for their journeys be prepared for delays.
