Around £1.3m is expected to be spent on a project to improve road safety around two US Air Force bases.

It will help improve safety and roads near RAF Barford St John, near Bloxham, Oxfordshire.

The work was commissioned after motorcyclist Harry Dunn was killed by a US citizen driving on the wrong side of the road near RAF Croughton, Northamptonshire, in August 2019.

Anne Sacoolas was given a suspended sentence in 2022.

The two air bases are about nine miles (14.4km) apart.

Work includes improving signage between them and road improvements.

They include spending £315,000 on the roads between the Deddington crossroads and Barford St John.

Another £70,000 will be spent on improving Hennef Way in Banbury between Wildmere roundabout and Southam Road and improving signs.

That part of the work is expected to cost £19,000.

Oxfordshire County Council is expected to formally approve all of the work at a meeting on Thursday.
