A woman is still receiving treatment for serious injuries after being hit by a car, police said.

Officers were called to Pasture Road in Stapleford, Nottinghamshire, at about 14:40 BST on Thursday.

Two women - both in their late 70s - were walking along the road when a car reportedly mounted the pavement, Nottinghamshire Police added.

A 33-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving, drug-driving, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, assaulting an emergency worker, and being drunk and disorderly.

A police spokesperson said the other pedestrian was also injured.

Officers released more information on Friday and appealed for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to contact them.

Det Con Liah Lane said: "All our thoughts remain with the injured pedestrian recovering in hospital following this incident.

"An investigation is currently ongoing to establish what happened, but we can confirm a suspect has been arrested on suspicion of multiple driving offences."
