Drivers warned works may cause delays for months

Barnwood Road in Gloucester will have a lane closure for several months

Motorists are being warned of potential delays on a main route because of works to upgrade gas pipes due to last several months, it has been announced.

The lane closure on Barnwood Road, in Gloucester, will begin on 11 August and is set to be in place until October.

The work, by Wales and West Utilities, had been planned with Gloucestershire County Council, the firm said.

Mick Gallavin, of Wales and West Utilities, said: "This work is essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport hydrogen and biomethane, so we can all play our part in a green future."
