A man has been jailed for stalking a woman, including police said, calling her up to 100 times a day from withheld numbers and leaving threatening voicemails.

Thomas McGinn, 33, was arrested in March and pleaded guilty to controlling and coercive behaviour and stalking involving serious distress on 3 November.

Warwickshire Police said the victim was harassed via numerous fake social media profiles by McGinn, as well as sending her unwanted gifts and cash transfers.

McGinn, of Christie Way, Stratford-upon-Avon, was sentenced to one year and four months in prison at Warwick Crown Court.

Police said McGinn was also reported to be contacting a relative of the victim and turning up to places he knew she would be.

He sent the victim distressing images of himself self-harming and refused to seek help or stop until she came to his home, the force added.

The judge granted the victim a lifetime restraining order against McGinn in the hearing on 10 November.

Det Con Emma Garrett said: "The victim showed extraordinary courage in breaking the silence and reporting the abuse she endured.

"She was determined to seek justice and protect herself and others from harm.

"Her bravery not only brought her abuser to account, resulting in a conviction and prison sentence, but also stands as an inspiration to others who may be suffering in silence."
