Man dies and three fall ill after suspected drugs incident

A man has died after four people became unwell in a suspected drugs-related incident in Glasgow city centre.

Police Scotland said the alarm was raised in Cambridge Street, in the Cowcaddens area, at about 20:10 on Monday.

A 52-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and a 37-year-old man was taken to hospital, where he is in a stable condition.

Ambulance staff also treated a 38-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man.

Officers closed the road and asked drivers to avoid the area for several hours.

The incident is understood to be linked to drugs.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said there was no risk to the wider public.

They added: "Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances."
