Work on 300 homes at former factory site moves on

The building of more than 300 homes at the site of a former major Wiltshire employer have moved a step closer.

Wiltshire Council has approved two conditions relating to water drainage for a development of 329 homes on the former Westinghouse Brakes site in Chippenham.

The company was a British railway engineering firm, and its site is being developed by several companies.

Outline planning permission for the wider redevelopment of the Langley Park area was first granted in 2017.

Preparations to demolish the existing buildings at the site on Foundry Lane, began in October 2023, with work still ongoing, reports the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

Now conditions about providing schemes for the discharge of foul water and surface water have been signed off by the council.

These obligations were amongst a total of 48 conditions listed by the council for the housing development.

The wider Langley Park project is being undertaken by Chippenham Properties Ltd, Langley properties Ltd and Vistry Partnerships, who have already completed the Aldi and Travelodge, as well as the beginning of the first phase of a residential development by Crest Nicholson.
