A free annual electric blanket safety testing event is set to return to Jersey.

The Government of Jersey said Jersey Fire and Rescue Service (JFRS) would support Jersey Electricity (JE) at the event on Thursday and Friday.

Officials said islanders can bring their electric blankets to the Western Fire Station from 10:00-15:00 BST on Thursday and to the Fire Headquarters in Rouge Bouillon, between 10:00-15:00 on Friday.

A spokesperson said the blankets would be checked by electrical engineers and any that failed the safety check would be disposed of and their owners would be given a discount voucher for an electrical retail shop.

JFRS recommends all electric blankets more than 10 years old should be replaced.
