A man has appeared in court in connection with a fatal crash in Leeds.

Uroy Randal, 47, died after colliding with a Renault tipper truck in Belle Isle on 25 January 2023.

Martin Rowse, 55, appeared at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Wednesday charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Mr Randal was described by his family as a "kind and gentle soul" who "wouldn't hurt a fly" after his death.

Mr Rowse, of Pawson Street in Morley, was granted unconditional bail to appear at Leeds Crown Court on 31 December.

Members of Mr Randal's family were present in court for the short hearing, in which the defendant spoke only to confirm his name and address.

In a statement, Mr Randal's family said he "kept himself to himself and loved listening to music".
