Man dies weeks after being hit by car

A man who was seriously injured in a road traffic collision in Monaghan in the early hours of Saturday 6 September has died.

The collision, which happened on the Broad Road shortly before 01:00 local time, involved an SUV car and a pedestrian.

It is understood the 47-year-old is from Northern Ireland.

He was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

Gardaí (Irish police) are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision and are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
