A new date has been set for the cancelled World Fireworks Championships in Blackpool.

Team India were due to stage their free display on 13 September, but it was called off at the last minute due to a thunderstorm.

A new date has now been set for 26 September, with Ukraine's display on the following night.

Councillor Lynn Williams, leader of Blackpool Council, said it "promises to be a spectacular series of displays".

Grand finale

This year the championships have a new format, which will culminate in the Champions of Champions being crowned.

Over the next three years, nine former winners of the event will be invited back to compete head-to-head, with one heat winner emerging from each year.

The three heat winners go head-to-head in a dramatic grand finale to determine the Champion of Champions in 2028.

The full updated event schedule is:

  • Friday 26 September 2025 – Amir Morani Fireworks representing India, Winner 2023

  • Saturday 27 September 2025 – Dance of Fire representing Ukraine, Winner 2019

  • Saturday 11 October 2025 – Orion representing Canada, Winner 2015
