Police were called to help move a herd of cows that wandered on to a housing estate in a village in Derbyshire after they escaped from their field.
Residents near St James' Court in Harpur Hill, near Buxton, were surprised to find about 60 of the beasts outside their homes on Saturday morning.
In a post on social media, the Buxton Police Safer Neighbourhood Team said the cows had "had absolutely no intention of mooooving on".
"After a few phone calls and some hoofwork across nearby farms, we were joined by the farmer who had clearly herd our call for help," the team added.
The cows were returned safely to their field and the farmer was set to repair damage to walls caused by their escape, police said.
