Train services have returned following multiple morning cancellations to journeys between Reading and Basingstoke as repair work took place.

Great Western Railway (GWR) said "more trains than usual" were being repaired at the same time, which had led to a shortage of carriages on the line.

The rail provider apologised for any inconvenience caused to travellers.

A good service has now returned to the the route between Berkshire and Hampshire.
