Man, 62, dies after early hours flat fire in Perth

A 62-year-old man has died after a fire took hold at a flat in Perth.

Firefighters were called to the blaze on St Catherine's Road at about 04:50 - they extinguished the flames and left at about 06:45.

Police confirmed that a man was found inside the property and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A joint investigation was carried out and it was determined there were no suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

No neighbouring properties had to be evacuated, the fire service confirmed.
