Electric vehicle charging points to be introduced

More than 1,400 new charging points will be installed across the council's area

At least 1,450 electric vehicle (EV) chargers are to be installed in areas without off-street parking after a council secured more than £2.8m in government funding.
West Northamptonshire Council said the money would support its new electric vehicle strategy, external.
A spokesperson said the authority wanted to help people, who did not own a driveway, to benefit from "the lower costs of running electric cars".
The government cash meant the council could hire a private company to install the EV chargers, they added.
Rebecca Breese, the council's Conservative cabinet member for environment, recycling and waste, said: "We are committed to embracing greener transport in West Northamptonshire and reducing our carbon footprint, whilst letting everyone benefit from the newer technologies."
