A teenage girl has been bitten in the face by a large dog running loose in a Staffordshire village.

The attack happened in an alleyway near the recreation ground off Mount Road, Blythe Bridge about 13:45 GMT on Monday, Staffordshire Police said.

A Cane Corso cross mastiff has been located and seized as part of the ongoing investigation, the force added, and the 17-year-old victim has been discharged from hospital.

There is not believed to be a wider risk to the public, stressed the force.
