A woman who claimed an innocent person was the driver of her vehicle when details were requested by police had admitted trying to pervert the course of justice.

Katie Bonser, 38, pleaded guilty to the charge at York Crown Court on Monday after she was asked who was behind the wheel of her car on the A629 near Skipton on 16 April 2021.

On 21 April and 24 June of that year, she falsely responded that a woman called Jade Greig had been driving.

The court was not told what the driving offence which triggered the incident had been.

Bonser, of Thornhill Road, Steeton, Bradford, was told to return to court on 3 September for sentencing.

She was given unconditional bail as Judge Simon Hickey heard she had caring responsibilities for four children.

She was advised not to commit any further offences before her next court appearance.
