A robber who broke a motorcyclist's arm after attacking her with a crowbar during her morning commute has been jailed.
Liam Askin, 27, ambushed the woman as she came to a stop on a driveway in Doncaster in May 2023 before riding off on her motorbike.
Askin, of no fixed abode, denied one count of robbery but was found guilty following a trial at Sheffield Crown Court and jailed for eight years and nine months on 29 August.
PC Di Biase said: "I hope this sentence gives the victim closure from what must have been a traumatic time and sends out a clear warning message of just how seriously we take reports of violent offending."
According to South Yorkshire Police, Askin was identified as the culprit via a social media post.
PC Biase, who was in charge of the case, said: "As well as the obvious physical impact this had on his victim, it no doubt left a mental mark and Atkin's refusal to admit to his crime meant she had to relive it all in court during a trial.
"She was pushed to tears whenever recollecting the incident and she should be very proud of the bravery and courage she has displayed throughout this ordeal."
