A report found using a UK provider would reduce the number of temporary staff required for postal voting

A committee has proposed using a UK company to organise postal voting for Jersey's next election.

The Privileges and Procedures Committee said in a report to the States there had been an increase in the number of people choosing to cast their vote by post.

It said about 25 temporary staff were employed to assist with the administration of elections, but using a UK provider "greatly reduces the number of temporary staff required and therefore represents a major cost saving".

After looking at providers in the UK, the proposition said the Judicial Greffier was keen to accept a tender to outsource all of the postal voting process for a cost of £34,000.

The tender included the printing, administration of applications and postage of ballots, the proposal said.
