A bird hide was burnt to the ground, with police believing the fire was started deliberately.
Humberside Police said the incident took place on Nev Cole Way, a public footpath near West Marsh Lane, Barton-upon-Humber, at about 22:15 BST on Wednesday.
The damage was put at about £12,000, the force added.
Sgt Sarah Jackson said: "This kind of damage doesn't just destroy property, it takes away a peaceful space that families, birdwatchers, and nature lovers have cherished for years."
She added: "It's a real blow to the community and we're determined to find out who's responsible."
Humberside Police said CCTV enquiries are under way.
