A teenage boy has been cautioned after damage was caused to three vintage steam-hauled carriages at a heritage railway.
Robert Gardiner, the chairperson of the Downpatrick and County Down Railway, said it was broken into on Friday at about 15:30 BST.
Police said a number of historical carriages were damaged at the Market Street site.
The 16-year-old boy was cautioned on Monday morning for criminal damage.
Mr Gardiner said a brick had been thrown through the window and a door smashed.
He said the damage would cost thousands of pounds to repair
The Downpatrick and County Down Railway is a private charitable heritage railway organisation which operates steam and diesel train services on three miles of track in Downpatrick.
The railway was hit badly by flooding in County Down in November and has still not reopened.
Police said they were still trying to identify the other suspects.
They are appealing for people with information to come forward.
