Epsom Downs weapons chase sparks police appeal

Police are appealing for information following reports a man was chased by up to 12 others, some with weapons, on Epsom Downs.

Surrey Police said there were multiple reports of violent disorder around the Tea Hut on the downs on Sunday morning.

Officers were called to the scene shortly after 11:00 BST but were unable to locate any of those involved.

The force said it wanted to identify those involved "including the male victim".

In a post on Facebook, external, it said the man was alleged to have been "chased by up to 12 men, some armed with weapons".

All those involved are thought to have left the scene in vehicles, according to police.

The force said an investigation was under way and it wanted to hear from anyone involved in the incident.

Anyone who was passing through the area at the time and who might have CCTV, dashcam or helmet footage, is also asked to contact police.
