There will no poolside changing rooms at a Crediton leisure centre while work is carried out to improve the facilities.

Work will start at the Lords Meadow Leisure centre on Monday 10 March.

The changing rooms have been largely unchanged since 1998, said Mid Devon District Council which runs the leisure centre.

It is part of the council's £760,000 investment in its leisure sites in Culm Valley, Exe Valley and Lords Meadow.

The Lords Meadow centre's two swimming pools will be closed between 10 and 14 March for essential ceiling repairs.

The pool will reopen on Saturday 15 March but with no changing facilities.

Swimmers will need to arrive at the pool "swim ready" and leave without changing onsite.

Councillor Josh Wright, cabinet member for service delivery and continuous improvement, said: "We recognise that this temporary inconvenience may pose challenges for some users."

He said the work should provide "high quality" facilities for the community.

The changing rooms will remain shut until the refurbishment is complete, which is expected to be before Friday 25 April.

Once the work is completed similar improvements will be made to the Exe Valley Leisure Centre's poolside facilities in Tiverton.
