Carriageway closed after men injured in assault

A stretch of the A2 has been closed after two men were assaulted following an earlier traffic incident, according to Kent Police.
The London-bound carriageway was shut between the A2050 and the A28, near Canterbury, following the incident at about 05:40 GMT.
One man was taken to a London hospital with serious injuries, while a second man has been taken to a local hospital, said the force.
Officers were at the scene, along with South East Coast Ambulance Service crews.
Traffic officers were also in attendance to assist with traffic management, National Highways said.
Motorists were advised to follow the diversion by exiting the A2 on to the A2050 Dover Road towards Canterbury, the agency added.
"If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey," a National Highways spokesperson said.
A driver told BBC Radio Kent he had been stuck in traffic on the carriageway for more than four hours after the incident.
He said: "I can see as far as the cars go in front but then behind it's just traffic all the way back.
"There is a police officer just beginning to get the vehicles turned around but she's got to go to them individually because there'll be health and safety risks.
"If everyone started doing it themselves, it'd be carnage."
