A 61-year-old man has died following an assault outside a pub in Bridgnorth.

West Mercia Police said officers were keen to speak to anyone who witnessed an argument between two men on 9 August outside The Black Horse Hotel on Bridge Street at about 22:30 BST.

Police said one of the pair - the man who died three days later - may have hit his head in the altercation, with police working to establish whether the events were connected.

A man in his 60s arrested on suspicion of manslaughter has since been bailed.

"I know an incident like this brings great concern to the local community and I would like to reassure people that this is being treated as an isolated incident," said Det Insp Richard Davies.

"The man's death is currently being investigated and I would urge anyone who may have seen an altercation on Bridge Street on Saturday evening at around 10.30pm to please get in touch.

"We know it would have been busy in Bridgnorth on Saturday so if you have any information, no matter how small you think it may be, do please contact us."
