Police officer injured during sexual assault arrest

A police officer has been taken to hospital after being injured while investigating sexual assaults.
The Essex Police patrol officer arrived at Southend High Street at about 16:05 BST on Friday, minutes after it was reported a number of women had been assaulted.
The officer arrested a man, 37, at the Royals Shopping Centre but was hurt while doing so and taken to hospital.
Police said the arrested man, from Southend, was in custody and are appealing for witnesses to the reported assaults to contact them.
