Part of a road has been closed after a water pipe burst, prompting emergency repair work.

Wilne Road in Sawley, Derbyshire, was shut at the junction with Tamworth Road on Thursday morning to allow Severn Trent to fix the leak.

It is not known how long the closure will be in place, but a spokesperson for the company said the repairs would be carried out "as quickly and safely as possible".

They added: "We'd like to thank everyone for their patience as we work in the area, and we're sorry for any local disruption."

The burst pipe is not affecting water supplies, the spokesperson added.
