An annual pilgrimage to Elizabeth Castle in Jersey to commemorate Saint Helier is due to take place later.

The event is held every year in remembrance of Saint Helier, the patron saint of Jersey.

The walk to the castle, where Helier lived at the hermitage, will begin at the Town Church in St Helier at 07:30 BST

After the ceremony, the dean and the lieutenant-governor will open the Officers' Quarters and military hospital, which were part of the restoration project at the castle, organisers said.

Guests and States members will then be given a tour of the Officers' Quarters, which provides group accommodation at the castle, as well as the military hospital, which is to be opened to the public for the first time in decades.

A free open day at the castle is planned at the end of the year, said organisers.
