Northern Ireland's emergency services are taking part in a training exercise in Belfast to test their preparations in the event of a major incident.

It is taking place in the Harbour Estate and has led to the closure of part of Queen's Quay between 20:00 and 23:00 BST on Tuesday.

The exercise involves the Police Service of Northern Ireland, Belfast Harbour Police, the Fire and Rescue Service, the Ambulance Service and the Coastguard.

Police said the multi-agency operation had been "a number of months in the planning" and was designed to test how the agencies respond and work together.

Two ambulances and a fire engine are parked close to the SSE Arena in Belfast on Tuesday night during a training exercise. The arena is illuminated and there is an advert for the Belfast Giants ice hockey team at the front of the building.
