Man arrested after shots fired at police

A man has been arrested after police were shot at in South Yorkshire.
Officers were fired at by a man believed to be in possession of an air rifle on Highwoods Road in Mexborough, Doncaster at about 19:15 BST on Saturday, South Yorkshire Police said.
The force said no-one was injured and a 50-year-old man was arrested by armed officers on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent and threats to kill.
While in custody, he was further arrested on suspicion of public order and racially aggravated offences after allegedly making threats towards staff.
A spokesperson said the shooting was being treated as an isolated incident.
Officers had been responding to reports of a man suffering from distress and in crisis when they were fired at.
The suspect remained in police custody on Sunday morning, with a police cordon in place on Highwoods Road.
