Police officers have been hunting for a man who escaped from hospital while under arrest.

Daryl Taylor, 33, had been charged with seven sexual offences on Sunday and was later taken to Ipswich Hospital by police for treatment.

He was last seen absconding from the facility at about 22:00 BST.

Suffolk Police warned people to not approach Taylor, from Ipswich, if they saw him but instead call 999.

"A number of searches and inquiries have been taking place to trace Taylor since last night, but he has not yet been located," the force said.

Four people – a man and three women – have subsequently been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and taken into police custody for questioning.

"Our priority at this time is to appeal to anyone with any information on where Daryl Taylor may be to contact us without delay," said Supt Andy Martin.
