A man has died after he was attacked outside Reading train station.
John Donovan, 60, from West Berkshire, was assaulted at about 20:45 BST on 20 July and died in hospital on 11 August.
A post-mortem examination found Mr Donovan’s cause of death was a traumatic head injury.
A 26-year-old man from Reading arrested on 21 July on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm (GBH) has been re-arrested on suspicion of murder and manslaughter and remains in police custody.
A man, 39, from Slough, was also arrested on suspicion of causing GBH with intent, and a 20-year-old woman from Reading was arrested on suspicion of causing GBH on 20 July.
They were bailed until 13 October.
In a tribute released through Thames Valley Police, Mr Donovan's family said they had been left "devastated" by his death.
"If any of us ever needed anything, John would always be there to help with a smile and offers of support," they said.
"John had a huge circle of friends due to his varied interests, notwithstanding all his friends from his childhood and school days in Reading."
They also thanked emergency services staff who attended to him on 20 July and took him to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
Det Insp Alice Broad, of the force's Major Crime Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with John Donovan’s family at this extremely difficult time.
"We have been supporting them ever since the incident on 20 July and continue to do so.”
