A man has died in a house fire in Leicester, police have confirmed.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to the blaze in Checketts Close, Belgrave, at 10:15 BST on Wednesday.

On Friday, police said a man was found dead inside the property by fire crews.

A joint police and fire investigation into the fire remains ongoing.

Det Insp Jo Ranson said: "A scene preservation remains in place while our investigation to understand the circumstances of what happened and provide reassurance to others living in the street."

The force added that no other people were injured in the fire.

It said officers were providing support to the man's family.
