Charity ball raises £30,000 for NHS trust

An NHS trust’s charity ball has raised more than £30,000 for its hospitals.
The event by North West Anglia Foundation NHS Trust (NWAFT) was held last week to raise money for Peterborough City Hospital, Hinchingbrooke Hospital and Stamford and Rutland Hospital.
Proceeds from this year’s event will be invested into enhancing the services that hospital volunteers can offer. These include spending time with patients receiving end-of-life treatment and ensuring welfare trolleys are fully stocked with medical and comfort items.
Craig Revel Horwood, the Strictly Come Dancing judge and the hospitals’ charity patron, attended the ball and said he was “delighted” to be part of the initiative.
The event was held at the Holiday Inn in Peterborough and was supported by numerous local businesses.
Mr Hoorwood said: “Since I became the hospitals’ charity patron a couple of years [ago], I have had the privilege of meeting so many amazing hospital staff in a wide variety of roles, and seeing first hand the wonderful work they do.
“I am delighted to be patron, and the success of the ball and the massive amount raised through incredibly generous support is huge testament to how much the NHS is valued locally and regionally.”
Philip Fearn, the charity project manager for NWAFT and one of the event's organisers, described it as “an incredible night”.
“Huge thanks to every single person that played a role in making it the wonderful occasion it was. The ball seems to have become a popular date in the local business community calendar.
“The staggering amount raised will be added to the hospitals’ charity funds and will make such a difference to dozens, if not hundreds, of patients, visitors and staff,” Mr Fearn said.
A new charity hub was opened on Friday by Mr Horwood at Peterborough City Hospital, which offers an area for people to visit and learn more about supporting the trust’s charity.
