A new mural in tribute to footballer Diogo Jota, who was killed in a car crash with his brother earlier this year, has appeared in Wolverhampton where he played for several years.
Jota appeared for Wolves from 2017 until 2020 when he moved to Liverpool, with both cities leaving tributes in the wake of the 28-year-old's death in northern Spain in July.
A new mural has since been created on the side of the Ash Tree pub in Wolverhampton, emerging over the course of three days through the artistic efforts of 35-year-old Lucy Danielle from Codsall.
Ms Danielle said: "The reaction has been really good, everyone was really friendly when I was doing it. To be honest, it's been good feedback from everyone."
The artist, who has been painting for about 20 years, said the owner of the pub had reached out to her for a football-themed mural, with players including Jota.
While Jota takes centre stage in the work, players who can be seen behind him include Bruno Fernandes, Cole Palmer, Chloe Kelly, and Bukayo Saka.
In the mural, Jota is seen with his hand placed over his heart, with the Wolves crest visible underneath. His shirt is effectively split in two, with a Liverpool shirt on the left and a Wolves shirt on the right.
"It's great to see the outcome at the end and see how other people find it as well, it's a good feeling," the artist said.
