Five arrested over man's death in murder inquiry

Five people have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man in Staffordshire.

Officers were called to a house on Park Avenue in Werrington shortly after 21:00 GMT on Wednesday.

Staffordshire Police said a man in his 50s was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two men aged 31, a man aged 29, a 22-year-old woman and a boy, all from the Stoke-on-Trent area, all remain in custody.

The force said it did not believe there was a wider threat to the public, and was referring the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
