Carlsberg Britvic announces £20m expansion

A new canning line and extension to the Rugby factory is set to go ahead

Carlsberg Britvic is expanding its factory in Rugby in a £20m investment with a new production line.
The expansion will see a new soft drinks canning line and an extension at the site, on the Glebe Farm industrial estate.
It means 34 jobs will be created with an increase production capacity to take the factory's canning lines number up to 10, said a Carlsberg spokesperson.
The new line will allow the factory to produce 50,000 more canned soft drinks an hour, taking its total to 610,000, they added.
Recruitment for the jobs, in engineering and manufacturing, is currently under way - increasing staff at the site to 430.
Nigel Paine, vice president of production at Carlsberg, said: "The investment highlighted the company's commitment to continuous and improvement in the supply chain.
"By expanding our production capacity, we can meet the growing demand for our popular brands, create more jobs, and enhance our operational efficiency."
John Slinger, MP for Rugby, said he was excited about the news of the Carlsberg Britvic expansion.
"They are a significant employer in the Rugby community, and this announcement means more jobs for our area, opportunities for young people, and of course more of some of the nation's favourite soft drinks," he said.
