Drink-driving charge after boy, 4, hit by car

A man has been charged with drink-driving after a four-year-old boy was hit by a car in Leicester.

Leicestershire Police officers were called to Cranmer Street at 12:38 BST on Saturday.

The four-year-old was taken to hospital, but a police spokesperson said his injuries were "not believed to be life-threatening at this time".

The charged man, 62, from Leicester, is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates' Court on 15 July, the force added.
