Islanders have been encouraged to bid for sculptures which have been the stars of a summer-long art installation and related treasure hunt.

The Dolphin Discovery Trail, which opened in May, featured a series of 62 models individually decorated by artists and placed on streets, beaches and spaces across the island.

The sculptures have been sponsored by local businesses, schools and community groups to raise funds for Autism Guernsey and the GSPCA.

The bidding process has begun for the uniquely decorated dolphins which will be sold on 17 September at the Peninsula Hotel.

Director of Autism Guernsey, Andrew Sparkes, said more than 1,000 people had taken part in the trail which he said had "brought joy, colour, and community spirit to Guernsey".

"The Dolphin Discovery Trail has been a wonderful example of Guernsey coming together for a cause, and the upcoming auction is a chance to make a lasting difference while taking home a unique piece of art," he added.

GSPCA manager Steve Byrne said the response to the trail had been "incredible to see".

He said: "The Dolphin Discovery Trail has brought so much joy to the island and we're incredibly grateful to everyone who took part, sponsored a dolphin, or helped behind the scenes."

The dolphin-themed trail followed similar events in recent years including the Puffin Parade in 2023 and the Golden Guernsey Goat Trail in 2021.
