The unnamed man was sacked after the panel found the woman's claims proven

A police officer was sacked after he caused a woman "significant psychological harm" when he sexually assaulted her at his home, a panel has found.

The former Thames Valley Police (TVP) officer, who has not been named, committed the "sustained" assault on the woman, a friend who was at his home to watch a film with him.

The panel said it was "clear" the officer "prioritised his own sexual gratification in spite of [her] repeatedly saying no" on 27 August 2023.

It said the "only proportionate and necessary outcome" was sacking the officer following the hearing last month.

"Any lesser outcome would only serve to discredit the credibility of the police service and not deter other officers from acting in a similar way," it added.

It found the man's behaviour had been "intentional, deliberate and targeted" at a hearing at TVP's headquarters in Kidlington, Oxfordshire.
