Repairs are underway after a main road in Telford closed due to a burst water pipe on Tuesday morning.

Severn Trent described the reason for the part closure of the A442/Eastern Primary as a "complex" burst deep underground on the slip road of Brockton Way, Woodside. The road has since re-opened.

It said 23 water tankers had injected additional water into the network, and bottled water was handed out to vulnerable residents.

A spokesperson for the company said it had successfully re-routed water around the network, water was being restored in homes and the slip road would remain closed while repairs were carried out.

Residents affected included the TF3, TF4, TF7 and TF8 postcodes.

"Severn Trent's presence in the area will be extensive for the next couple of days as we continue with our complex repair work," the firm added.
