Six men arrested over body found in burnt-out car

Six people have been arrested after a man's body was found in a burnt-out car nine months ago.

Bedfordshire Police was called to a field near the B659 Langford Road, near Langford, at 07:30 GMT on 6 February.

A body in the driver's seat of a destroyed Skoda Octavia was later identified as Jesbir Singh Khela, 47, from Letchworth, Hertfordshire.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder, and four men on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. Police said all six, aged in their 30s, remained in custody.

A seventh man in his 30s, arrested in June in connection with the incident, has been released on bail while inquiries continue.

Det Ch Insp Matt Inwood said: "These arrests mark a significant development in our efforts to establish the full circumstances around Jesbir's death.

"We are continuing to pursue various lines of inquiry and would urge anyone with further information to contact us immediately."

CCTV released by the force showed the 47-year-old and his vehicle at the Esso petrol station in Norton Way, Letchworth, at about 13:22 on 5 February.
